Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Mayor Therese Dunphy are pleased to share the Summit Connects project is officially under construction. When complete, the project will link all 31 communities in Summit County to a public safety fiber network to enhance the quality and security of public safety operations and other critical local government services.
Work in Silver Lake is expected to begin after Nov. 11 and take six to eight weeks to complete. During this time, conduit for the Summits Connect project will be installed along the north side of Kent Road. In the spring, fiber optic cable will be run in that conduit.
While working in Silver Lake, the Summit Connects team will uphold a Good Neighbor Commitment. They will:

All costs will be covered by Summit County. The County and Fairlawn will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing the fiber ring. Henkels & McCoy was selected as the construction contractor, while QCI was selected as the construction manager/inspection services firm.
