Our large tree canopy is the most important factor in keeping the Village cool during the hot days of summer. So summer is a good time to make sure your trees do not have “Too Mulch of a Good Thing”.
To keep trees healthy, the Shade Tree Commission recommends that villagers take a look at your landscaping to check that your trees and shrubs are not over mulched. Healthy mulch depths are no more than 2 to 3 inches and the mulch should be pulled away from the trunk flare (see photo).
Let’s work together to keep our Village cool and green!
