While property values in Silver Lake appear to have gone up by about 12%, several homeowners have seen increases of 30%, 40%, or more. I urge these people to contest these valuations with the Board of Revision. Information on how to do so can be found on the Summit County Fiscal Officer’s (Kristen Scalise) website. I have contacted Ms. Scalise, letting her know that I feel some of the new valuations are unfair and grossly over-estimated. Early in March I will meet with representatives from the County to discuss my concerns. At that time, I will urge the county to take some corrective steps, instead of leaving things solely up to individual homeowners. In the meantime, file an appeal if you think your valuation is too high.
