The Homeless Drive has been extremely successful. The generosity of so many people has overwhelmed the Peter Maurin Center, so much so that the drive is being ended on January 1, instead of January 15. The response from people has been stupendous. However, if you do still wish to contribute, they are most in need of money and Metro All-Day bus passes. The bus passes provide the homeless shelter from the elements for extended periods of time. Silver Lake has been exceedingly generous; I have been told that our contributions were far more than what was expected, and that they were exactly what was needed. Given the January 1 date, we will still accept donations at Village Hall through Wednesday, December 30. Thank you and congratulations, Silver Lake residents, for your donations, for your generosity, and for caring.
