Last year we, along with Cuyahoga Falls, Munroe Falls and Stow, participated in a clothing drive to help the homeless. The drive was extremely successful, far exceeding our expectations. We, along with the other 3 cities and also the Peter Maurin Center and the Knights of Columbus #2362, are going to sponsor a similar drive again this year. Once again there will be a drive-thru day in Silver Lake. On Saturday, December 4, between 10am and 2pm, please bring your donations to Village Hall. I will be there to collect them. This year new items are being specifically requested. Specifically, waterproof boots (men’s 10-12, women’s all sizes), men’s zippered hoodies XL and XXL, cotton Fruit of the Loom preferred, flashlights and batteries, hand warmers, large athletic or wool socks, thermal gloves, men’s boxer briefs (all sizes, Gildan covered waistband multipack), women’s cotton briefs underwear (all sizes), meal cards from McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, etc., one day Akron Metro Bus passes, and of course money (checks made out to Knights of Columbus #2362). Again, the drive-thru day is Saturday December 4, but the drive itself actually starts on November 22 and runs through December 18. All donations can be brought to Village Hall any weekday between 8am and 4:30 pm. Ohio has some bitter winter weather; nobody deserves to be cold. Please be generous, please participate.
